54. Conviction
Ah! Then it was, about this time,
Find its way, life was turned,
All feeling of conviction,
In body, materialistic; became a living soul.
I seemed to learn, I’ve felt,
And hope without an object can’t live,
Each faculty of sense, keep the heart,
We receive but what we give.
And some in dreams assured,
Assured that, being still unsatisfied with aught,
Intensely brooded, even till they acquired,
Calm delight, endless light.
I have lived in pleasant thought,
Needful things would come unsought,
Long after it was heard no more,
That overlooked moor.
